1. Shop Locally

Ten years ago a survey was sent out to local residents asking if there was a need for a local shop. Results were extremely positive: most residents were keen to support a shop pledging financial and/or volunteering help. Over the years it has become the heartbeat of the village and we are now also a recognized pit stop for walkers and cyclists. However, we are very well aware of that infamous phrase ‘use it or loose it’.

2. Volunteering

The shop will only work with your support. We have a fantastic group of volunteers but do need more help. Apart from serving customers in the shop and café, there are all sorts of roles in which to become involved; tending the garden around the shop, general shop maintenance and cleaning. Also, it is a great way of meeting local people. There is always a Manager on duty so you would never be on your own in the shop. If you feel you could spare an hour or two a week please get in touch with one of the Duty Managers.

If you would like more information on volunteering do come into the shop and have a coffee and a chat to either Kriszta or Ted who will be delighted to see you. goods@millandstores.co.uk or 01428 741066.

3. Support the Fundraising Events

As we are a none profit making enterprise we need to raise funds in order to maintain and update shop equipment such as fridges, freezers, storage facilities etc. Therefore, on an annual basis we hold various fund raising activities such as Christmas fairs, auctions, dinners, bridge teas and during the months of September to April we hold a monthly cinema and supper evening in the Village Hall (details under ‘The Hub’). If you have any ideas or would be willing to help organize a fund raising evening we would be very pleased to hear from you.
